Hi, Ben. I’m glad you stopped by and I’m really glad to hear you’re thinking along the lines of getting your Jack Russell back into a “healthy” mode. Some of the suggestions made in this article are pertinent to older dogs and well as puppies.

Eventually, I will be writing a post covering routine health care for mature dogs. In the meantime, check with your veterinarian to see if any vaccinations are in order for your dog. Make sure she is tested for heartworms and started on heartworm prevention. Have her feces checked for intestinal parasites (i.e. worms). Make sure she is eating a good diet – ask your veterinarian for advice if you’re not sure what food is appropriate. And most importantly, have your veterinarian perform a thorough physical examination for her.
